Story Boarding

Drawing is finally complete after a very huge problem. - I can't draw. Luckily we don't get marked down on our drawings so they will posted later on today so you can laugh at them. Everything is finally complete therefore I'm ready to start filming this weekend! Whilst filming my music video, I plan to do some extra filming and take some stills of the production process as well as include some stills of the location choices.

My chosen Outfits

This outfit is going to be used to ‘fill in the gaps.’ The random shots that will cut between the narrative to show present time will be peformed in this outfit. I think the white and the floral design suggest innocence. It shows that in present tense she is actually an innocent young girl and proves that girls especially are usually quite vulnerable when drunk.

This outfit is going to be used for the ‘swinging on the lamp post’ scene. Again, this shot is a way of using different locations and different outfits in order to fit the conventions of Katy Perry's music videos. Similar to the outfit above this would be ideal to show her innocence a provide a more positive image to her.

This outfit is going to be used as part of the narrative when the character wakes up in the bath from a night out obviously not remembering how she ended up there. I plan to wear ripped tights and my make up is going to be smudged. I used ripped tights to suggest that night had been unpredictable and disastrous.

In the song, I have chosen to do, it says, ‘it felt so wrong, it felt so right.’ What I plan to do here is use a red outfit and white outfit to juxtapose her feelings about it feeling right and wrong at the same time. Red is to symbolise the guilt of what happened on the night out and not remembering everything that happened. White is to show her innocence and purity as a female.

I have planned to wear four different outfits when I’m using split screen. I think this will make it look fun and interesting as well as portray a key convention in music videos where the artist is seen in various outfits throughout.

There are various shots of the artist leaning against a wall. I wanted to portray a rebellious side to the character, as the lyrics almost sound sexual. I plan to wear high heeled black boots with this outfit .

shot list/shooting schedule

Shot list
This is one big list of the order in which my shots will take place. I have completed my story board, I just to need to add the drawings. I plan to complete this by the beginning of next week so I can begin filming as soon as possible.
long shot - artist in the bath to establish the beginning of the narrative.
midshot - the next five shots are
longshot the actions in what she has done
longshot during the night. examples like head in the toilet,
longshot and lying on the floor.
longshot - continuing from previous shot, the artist begins singing.
birds eye view- DURING MY FILMING, THIS SHOT HAS CHANGED.
midshot-DURING MY FILMING,THIS SHOT HAS CHANGED
split screen-long shot - to juxtapose her being drunk to the innocent girl she is normally.
birds eye view - artist singing on the bed, looking distressed about what has happened.
midshot-repeating shot before- music video convention
longshot- standing pose- all four shots are going to poses
longshot- sitting pose- with different colour, a similar style

longshot- sitting pose- approach comes in to the music video.
longshot- carrying on from previous shot- singing to the lyrics
longshot-standing against a wall- looking rebellious.
birds eye view- the bottle spinning. a negative symbol that its a bad thing.
midshot- sitting at the table - dressed a school girl - demonstrating the symbolic connotations of being a school girl. that these are the times you are most innocent.
longshot- repeated scene of bath- a convention for music videos.

longshot- quick change outfit
birds eye view- shot lying on the bed.

22nd November 2011

I have begun to story board my music video and thought more about my Magazine Advertisement. Miss showed me a website called dafont.com which I've looked on briefly and already seen fonts that I'd like to use in my CD cover and Advertisement I will try and use the same font to link with each other. In terms of making my Magazine Advertisement and CD cover, I've decided to use photoshop. Having spoken to my teacher, I have also decided to leave the making of my digi pack until after my filming just in case any of my video ideas change. I have also thought about linking my magazine advert and CD cover to my actual video. Therefore I think the image I've chosen to be at the bottom of the magazine advert will be a shot of some sort from the music video itself.

My Music Video Revealed...

I have decided to do Katy Perry 'I kissed a girl'

Music Video Ideas

This image is my ideas for the music video. I have split the sections up into Mise-en-scene,Genre,Camera,editing,different effects and people who will be involved.
In the mise-en-scene section I have sub-divided it into costumes, hair and makeup as well as the locations I hope to include.

Mise en scene
costumes- I plan to have three different costumes which I am still currently deciding on.
Hair and Makeup- In one part of my video, the character is going to wake up after a drunken night out so her make up is going to be smudged. Before, however she is going to have a lot of bright colours including red lipstick and wacky eye shadow. Hair is going to be back combed.

Genre
My genre is going to be Narrative based as there is going to be a story line to it, however there is going to have some performance aspects to it as I will be including shots of the artist.

Editing
There will be a fade to black at the end to emphasise a finish to the story line. There will be a lot of fast paced editing as the track is upbeat and I plan to have a link with the visuals. (one of goodwins theories!)

Camera
Birds eye view shots- at the beginning scene next to a girl.
a mixture of close ups and long shots with maybe some jump cuts to add to effect.
Song will begin with character in a bath waking up after a drunk night out.
There are beats at the beginning of the track which i hope to create snappy shots to fit in with these beats. the shots will be of various things a girl has to do before going out. for example: a shot of the artist putting a shoe on or a shot of a zip of a dress doing up.

People involved
My sister is going to help with some of the camera work when I need to be in the frame. She is also going to be involved in hair and make up. The artist is going to be me. It took time to decide whether I actually wanted myself to be in the video but i'm a very picky person with a huge imagination therefore if I am the artist I can see and be exactly what I want.
Sophie Steward a student in year 12 and a close friend of mine has kindly volunteered to be a character in the music video.

Different effects
I want to include some reverse shots which I have some ideas for.
I also want to include some speeding up of shots and using some slow motion.
I also want to use split screen and I have picked out to split screen scenes already!

So this is basically what I have included in my ideas. My next job is to complete my questionnaire which I am currently thinking about. I am planning to write up to 15 questions and go on to study 3 key questions in detail for further research study.
