Second Student Example

Strengths
1)There was a clear narrative to this music video which is what I want to achieve in mine. I liked the way the narrative fit around the artist singing. It looked realistic and flowed well.

2)The use of the colour effect black and white to clearly show a flashback. Its clear and easily understand which is what I hope to gain from my music video. I want to use black and white but not for a flashback so maybe I need to think about a different colour effect.

3)close ups of the artists face. A key convention and looked professional. She used it on a white background as well as wearing white. Whether this was a planned metaphor for her innocence and purity as a female, it worked well and reflected upon her solemn mood.

Weaknesses
1)There were little effects used in this music video which didn't excite me. I have learnt from watching this video that the more effects used the more engaged I would have been. I seemed to find it a little boring as it got closer to the end.

2) some shots used are a bit repetitive. for example, the fighting shots seemed to replay but in different places. Could have seen more ideas about why they were fighting. Although the narrative was understood it could have had a little more explanation behind the argument.

This video got a B overall which I think is well deserved. She clearly took time in thinking about how she would portray herself and the lip sync was accurate. I have learnt in my opinion that a more upbeat song is easier to add effects into and to use fast pace editing to keep the audience focused.
